The purpose of the Lancaster County Veteran of the Year Award is to recognize a living Lancaster County Veteran who has not only served his/her country with honor but has used the leadership skills and abilities learned in service to the nation to better the community through selfless volunteer service to Lancaster County.
The purpose of the Lancaster County Patriot of the Year Award is to recognize a living Lancaster County non-veteran who demonstrated exceptional service to the County’s veterans and veteran community through selfless volunteer service.
Nominations for the awards are accepted by the Lancaster County Veterans Council from August 1 through September 30 of each year. The Lancaster County Veterans Council commissions a panel of veterans and community leaders to review and select the Veteran of the Year from the eligible candidates. The award is presented at the Lancaster County Veterans Day ceremony in November each year.
